Asahi Onkyo Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company based in Shichijō that describes itself as a manufacturer of industrial wireless radio equipment used to remotely operate machinery, cranes and hazardous-material handling equipment in factories and construction/civil-engineering sites. The company states it builds wireless devices that can operate cranes and machines from any manufacturer, offers custom-made products, and is the only company with a lineup of explosion-proof wireless devices. Its product lineup includes cableless remote-control models such as the Smart Cableless RC-50000, Slim Cableless, Microcomputer Cableless, Tough Cableless and Mid Cableless series, as well as data cableless units, receivers, batteries and chargers.

According to the company's About Us page, its predecessor developed a voice changer that was a forerunner of karaoke, and the company inherited that business, which is why the word 'Onkyo' (acoustics) remains in its name. When karaoke machines became widespread and the voice changer was no longer needed, the company discussed what to make next; at a time when amateur radio was popular, one person built a device that could start a car engine remotely, with the catchphrase 'Engine start OK from your room!'
