Overview

ArtMoment is a Czech experience brand that organizes guided painting and creative evenings in selected restaurants and cafés across the Czech Republic. Founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic by three students of the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE) — Polina Burková, Jaroslav Kevin Peterka and Egor Nefedov — the project began as a student experiment asking whether adults can still allow themselves to create just for joy. The first event took place shortly after the first wave of the pandemic, and the concept quickly resonated with people looking for a relaxed, social and creative night out. The core offering is a roughly three-hour painting session in a stylish restaurant or café. Participants choose from a wide selection of templates (the website mentions 50 different designs), receive a welcome drink and protective apron, and are guided by instructors throughout the evening. No prior experience is required; the emphasis is on enjoying the process and leaving with one's own painting. ArtMoment positions itself as a giftable experience — open-date vouchers can be ordered and redeemed later — and as a social occasion suitable for dates, bachelorette parties, team events or solo attendees. Beyond classic acrylic painting, the brand has expanded its portfolio with new formats such as ArtTuft (tufting a small rug with a tufting gun and colorful yarns), ArtResin (creating abstract paintings, jewelry or decorative objects with epoxy resin) and ArtLab, a creative space where guests can experiment freely. The company also organizes mosaic, candle and moss-world workshops. Events take place in venues such as Spojka Karlín, the Gabriel Loci complex, the WineList wine bar and the building of the Mánes Fine Arts Association, across twelve venues in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň. ArtMoment has grown from a hands-on student project into a brand that, according to its own about page, connects nearly a hundred people — instructors, photographers, production staff and creatives, many of them art-school students. The company has also pursued public-interest collaborations, including painting on the Aperol Spritz terrace in Prague, a benefit evening for the organization OBRAZ and events as part of Prague Pride 2023. It has used franchising as a growth model from the start, seeking partners who share its energy rather than expanding only through its own teams. In its first five years the company reports having organized over 1,700 painting events attended by nearly 30,000 people. ArtMoment s. r. o. is a private Czech company and went through the VŠE business accelerator and the Start Up Academy by CzechCrunch.

History

ArtMoment was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic by three students of the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE): Polina Burková, Jaroslav Kevin Peterka and Egor Nefedov. According to the company's own about page, it began as a student experiment built around a simple question: can an adult today still afford to simply create? The founders had no grand plan — only the desire to create an evening they themselves would want to attend, an evening when time slows down, when you hold a brush instead of a phone, and when you allow yourself to do something just for joy. The first event took place shortly after the first wave of the pandemic. People arrived with enormous energy, laughing, talking and trying something they had not done for years. That experience made the founders realize it was not only about painting but about the moment when a person allows themselves to be playful again. In the early days the founders were personally involved in everything — transporting canvases, mixing paints, setting up tables and cleaning up after evenings — and knew every restaurant, easel and detail. Gradually more people joined: instructors, photographers, production staff and a team that today holds the whole project together. Many of them are art-school students and creatives who want to be part of something meaningful. What started as a student project now connects nearly a hundred people who believe creativity has a place in everyday life. The project also went through the VŠE business accelerator and the Start Up Academy by CzechCrunch. The company's activity is aimed at the general public that does not normally engage in artistic creation. Events take the form of a shared gathering during which participants paint and take home their own finished painting. Experience evenings are held in various spaces, cafés and other venues, for example Spojka Karlín, the Gabriel Loci complex, the WineList wine bar or the building of the Mánes Fine Arts Association. ArtMoment operates in twelve venues in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň. Over its first five years the company organized more than 1,700 painting events attended by nearly 30,000 people. It has also engaged in collaborations with a public dimension, including painting on the Aperol Spritz terrace in Prague, a benefit evening for the organization OBRAZ and events as part of Prague Pride 2023. From the beginning the founders knew they did not want to grow only by traveling everywhere themselves; they wanted to find people who share the same energy and want to create in their own cities, which led to a franchising model. The brand has also expanded beyond acrylic painting into new formats such as ArtTuft, ArtResin and ArtLab.
