Artelia's history is rooted in two French engineering traditions that developed before the creation of the current brand. Coteba built a reputation in building engineering, urban development, project management and related advisory services. Sogreah developed expertise in water, hydraulic systems, infrastructure, energy and industrial engineering. Both organizations accumulated experience across public works and complex private-sector projects, giving them complementary technical and geographic capabilities. In 2010, Coteba and Sogreah combined their activities to create Artelia. The merger brought together building, infrastructure, water, energy, industrial and project-management expertise under a single international group. Rather than being organized around a manufactured product, the new company was structured around professional disciplines and project sectors. This allowed it to offer clients a broader range of services, from early-stage studies and planning through design, procurement assistance, construction supervision and asset or operational advice. Following its formation, Artelia developed as a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting platform. Its activities expanded across buildings, transport, water, maritime infrastructure, energy, industry, environment and urban development. The group’s international work complemented its established French presence, with projects and offices serving clients in different regions.
