Arndt-Verlag is a German book, calendar and magazine publisher based in Bretten, Baden-Württemberg, specialising in publications about parrots and other birds. It was founded by Thomas Arndt and has been owned by René Wüst since 2015. The house is not to be confused with the right-wing political Arndt-Verlag of Dietmar Munier in Kiel. The company describes itself as market leader for more than 30 years in publications on bird keeping and bird breeding. Its media brands are Gefiederte Welt, PAPAGEIEN and WP-Magazin. In April 2019 the specialist magazine Gefiederte Welt was taken over from Eugen Ulmer Verlag, extending the publisher's scope from parrots and pet birds to birds generally. Also in 2019, the Akademie für Vogelhaltung was founded as a separate business area of Arndt-Verlag. Its goal is the education and further training primarily of keepers and breeders of parrots, parakeets and other pet birds. The programme offers courses for beginners and advanced keepers and breeders, from private keeping at home to professional breeding facilities, and also for professional target groups in zoological institutions, animal care, the pet trade, and species and animal protection. The academy works with other education and training institutions and universities. Ownership changed in 2015, when René Wüst became owner of the publishing house. The company operates under AVES Publishing e.K. and describes itself as market leader for more than 30 years in publications on bird keeping and bird breeding. Its media brands Gefiederte Welt, PAPAGEIEN and WP-Magazin together carry what it calls the largest European advertising market in the sector and achieve high reach through digital media. In the specialist book market it holds a leading position.
