Overview

Yayasan Ar Raihan (Ar Raihan Foundation) is an Indonesian non-profit foundation based on Jalan Ir. H. Juanda in Dusun Kweden, Trirenggo, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. It describes itself as a dakwah, education and social institution committed to providing excellent, professional Islamic education and community empowerment. Its stated vision is to become a leading Qur'anic Islamic education and dakwah institution that is intelligent, independent, caring and Islamic in character, and a reference point in educating the nation. Its mission includes strengthening independent and professional dakwah-, social- and religion-based education, becoming the best Islamic education institution in Bantul Regency, cooperating with partners at regional, national and international levels, promoting a merciful understanding of Islam, and providing social assistance and disaster response. The foundation's history began with early childhood education units — TPA Ar Raihan, KBIT Ar Raihan and Raudhatul Athfal Ar Raihan — before it pioneered SDIT Ar Raihan in 2001; the primary school received official permission from the Bantul Education and Culture Office in 2003. Under the leadership of Slamet, S.Ag., M.Si., the foundation expanded into secondary education by establishing SMPIT Ar Raihan, which began operating in the 2013/2014 academic year with Early Utami, S.Psi., Psi., M.A. as principal. A senior high school, SMAIT Ar Raihan, is also part of the network. Because its schools operate in Bantul, an area exposed to volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, the foundation developed disaster-preparedness education. In 2014 SDIT Ar Raihan was pioneered as a model Sekolah Siaga Bencana (Disaster Preparedness School) in Bantul Regency in cooperation with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta and with technical support from BPBD Bantul Regency; the program was inaugurated by Bantul Regent Hj. Sri Surya Widati on 18 March 2015. In 2015 the foundation also launched a sedekah sampah (charity waste) program across its units, encouraging students to take responsibility for waste, sort and donate recyclable material, and process waste into economic goods, alongside reduce, reuse, recycle and repair initiatives. In 2019 it inaugurated Sekolah Sampah Ar Raihan, an institution for education and training on waste utilization in Bantul Regency. Beyond schools, the foundation operates a range of business and service units: Rumah Tahfizh Ar Raihan (Qur'an memorization house), Sekolah Orang Tua Ar Raihan (parent school), Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Ar Raihan, Toko Ar Raihan, Katering Ar Raihan and Penerbit Ar Raihan (publishing). Together these units support its education, dakwah and social mission. The foundation is a non-profit entity rather than a listed company, and it maintains an official website at arraihan.org with contact details including +62 821-8111-8008 and yayasan@arraihan.org.

History

Yayasan Ar Raihan is an Indonesian non-profit foundation focused on education, dakwah and social service. It is based on Jalan Ir. H. Juanda in Dusun Kweden, Trirenggo, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The foundation was established to contribute to educating the Indonesian people, and its existence began with early childhood education units: TPA Ar Raihan, KBIT Ar Raihan and Raudhatul Athfal Ar Raihan. In 2001 the foundation pioneered SDIT Ar Raihan, an integrated Islamic primary school, which officially received permission from the Education and Culture Office — later the Office of Basic Education — of Bantul Regency in 2003. Under the leadership of Slamet, S.Ag., M.Si., the foundation expanded into secondary education by pioneering SMPIT Ar Raihan. The junior high school began operating in the 2013/2014 academic year with Early Utami, S.Psi., Psi., M.A. as principal. As a psychologist and school head, Early Utami paid close attention to students' development and to the environment, and under her leadership SMPIT Ar Raihan was developed into an environmentally aware school. A senior high school, SMAIT Ar Raihan, is also listed among the foundation's units. Because the foundation's schools are located in Bantul, part of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, they operate in an area prone to two main natural hazards: volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. In 2014, one of the foundation's units, SDIT Ar Raihan, was pioneered as a model Disaster Preparedness School (Sekolah Siaga Bencana) in Bantul Regency. The program was carried out in cooperation with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, with technical implementation supported by BPBD Bantul Regency. The program was inaugurated by Bantul Regent Hj. Sri Surya Widati on 18 March 2015; at the inauguration the SDIT Ar Raihan academic community socialized its disaster mitigation program and simulated an earthquake emergency response before invited guests. In 2015 the foundation initiated a sedekah sampah (charity waste) program across its units. Its aims were to cultivate children's concern about waste, a sense of responsibility for environmental cleanliness, a positive perception of waste, and the use of waste through reuse, processing or donation. Activities included habitual proper waste disposal, responsibility for one's own waste, weekly Friday waste charity, processing waste into economic goods, clean-up operations after activities that generate waste, and provision of adequate bins. The foundation also promoted reduce, reuse, recycle and repair. In 2019 it inaugurated Sekolah Sampah Ar Raihan, an institution for education and training on waste utilization in Bantul Regency. The foundation's units span education and supporting services: SMAIT Ar Raihan, SMPIT Ar Raihan, SDIT Ar Raihan, Raudhatul Athfal (RA) Ar Raihan, Kelompok Bermain Islam Terpadu (KBIT) Ar Raihan, Taman Pengasuhan Anak (TPA) Ar Raihan, Rumah Tahfizh Ar Raihan, Sekolah Orang Tua Ar Raihan, Koperasi Serba Usaha (KSU) Ar Raihan, Toko Ar Raihan, Katering Ar Raihan and Penerbit Ar Raihan. Its official website presents its history, vision and mission, management contacts, and SPMB (new student admission) information, and lists contact details including +62 821-8111-8008 and yayasan@arraihan.org.
