Its business spans boiler-water treatment, cooling-water treatment, wastewater and sewage treatment, chemical cleaning, legionella control, sludge reduction, fluorine treatment, and hot-spring water treatment. The company also operates an environmental measurement certification business and provides maintenance and solution services. Its product lines include the Aquas Clomack boiler chemical, the Legionella-control agents Legiofresh and Legiocrush, the sludge settling agent Ambarker, the sludge reduction system Aquas Desludge, the fluorine treatment system Aquas Fluorine, and the hot-spring water treatment system Aquas Regispa. It also offers the Eco-Ocean anti-fouling system, which in 2025 became the first registered product under the National Fisheries Technology Association's certification program. Aquas operates a nationwide network of branches, sales offices, research laboratories and factories in Japan, centered on its Tsukuba Research Institute and Tsukuba factory. It has also expanded internationally, including a capital tie-up with Aihuan Wushi (Suzhou) Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. in Suzhou, China, in 2011. History

Aquas Corporation was established in 1958 as Nitto Chemical Co., Ltd. (日東化工株式会社), a manufacturer of water-treatment chemicals and water-treatment equipment, with initial capital of 1 million yen. It entered the textile dyeing industry with a newly developed metal ion sequestering agent. In 1960 it began selling standard soft-water and pure-water equipment. In 1964 it started manufacturing and selling continuous blowdown equipment (obtaining a utility model) and launched non-polluting boiler water-treatment chemicals. In 1967 it developed a chemical cleaning method for piping and equipment (patented) and increased capital to 10 million yen. In 1968 it began manufacturing and selling wastewater treatment equipment, establishing a comprehensive water-treatment system, and increased capital to 20 million yen. In 1969 the head office building (current main building) was completed. During the 1970s, Aquas continued to expand. Capital was increased to 30 million yen in 1970, 45 million yen in 1972, 67.5 million yen in 1973, and 100 million yen in 1976. In 1972 it began selling industrial waste treatment equipment. In 1975 it developed a fixed-bed biological oxidation treatment method. In 1976 it was certified as an environmental measurement certification office and developed a non-polluting anti-corrosion agent. In 1977 it received a Ministry of International Trade and Industry technology improvement subsidy for 'water reuse technology development', began selling reclaimed water equipment, and developed a batch-type wastewater treatment device. In 1978 it developed a resource- and energy-saving continuous blowdown device and a suspended-solid flotation separation method (patented). In the 1980s, Aquas opened the Sakai factory in 1980 and received a MITI subsidy for 'wire filtration technology development'. In 1982 it developed the anti-Legionella chemical Legiofresh. In 1983 it developed a non-polluting metal anti-corrosion agent (patented) and groundwater pollutant (organochlorine) removal technology. In 1984 it developed the Nitto Security System (boiler water monitoring system) and a resource-saving chemical cleaning method (patented). In 1985 the standard equipment manufacturing factory was completed and the sludge settling agent Ambarker was developed. In 1986 capital was increased to 200 million yen, the special composite boiler chemical Aquas Clomack was developed, and a new building was completed. In 1987 the company changed its name to Aquas Corporation and developed the anti-Legionella chemical Legiocrush L-230 (patented). In 1989 capital was increased to 260 million yen and the Tsukuba Research Institute was completed. In the 1990s, capital was increased to 375 million yen in 1990, and the simple chemical injection system Replay was developed. In 1993 the vacuum drying sludge reduction device Aquas Helser was developed. In 1994 the Tsukuba factory was completed and a steam condensate system anti-corrosion method was developed (international patents in 5 countries). In 1995 the Tsukuba Logistics Center was completed. In 1996 a coagulation-sedimentation treatment method was developed (patented), the Analysis Center was completed, and the food factory boiler chemical Aquas Forte BS was developed (patented). In 1997 ISO 9002 certification was obtained and the anti-Legionella chemical Legiocrush L-450 was developed (patented). In 1999 ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications were obtained, a method for sterilizing Legionella in water systems was developed (patented), and the fluidized-bed wastewater treatment equipment Bionest was developed. In the 2000s, the sludge elimination device Aquas Desludge was developed in 2000 (patented). In 2001 the fluorine treatment equipment Aquas Fluorine was developed (patented) and the chemical container recycling system Aquas Green Net was introduced. In 2002 the Sekijo factory was completed (relocating from the Sakai factory) and the company entered the hot-spring water treatment business, launching the hot-spring water treatment system Aquas Regispa. In 2003 it began deploying the solution sales approach 'ARISS'. In 2004 it adopted the LAMP method for rapid Legionella testing. In 2006 it developed the activated sludge modifying agent Ambarker HO. In 2007 a two-company sales and manufacturing system began with Aquas Corporation and Aquas Engineering Corporation. In 2009 it entered steel water treatment and papermaking wet-end treatment businesses. In 2010 it developed the Dual Hyper cooling water treatment program (patented). In 2011 it formed a capital tie-up with Aihuan Wushi (Suzhou) Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. in Suzhou, China.
