Overview
The Association des Palynologues de Langue Française (APLF) is a purely scientific, non-profit association founded in 1967. Its purpose is to aid the progress, illustration, representation, and promotion of palynology — the study of present and fossil micro-objects of continental or marine origin, including pollen grains and spores, dinoflagellates, acritarchs, chitinozoans, microcharcoals, and non-pollen microfossils. The association brings together researchers, teacher-researchers, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, and students working in palynology, primarily in French and francophone laboratories. At its peak, the APLF counted up to 230 members from diverse origins: Africa (Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Zaire), the Americas (Brazil, Canada, United States, Mexico), Europe (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland), the Maghreb (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia), and the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Israel). In 2019, approximately 70 researchers, teacher-researchers, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, and students were members of the APLF, reflecting the diversity of palynological research conducted in French and francophone laboratories. The association maintains a website at https://assoaplf.wixsite.com/website, where it provides information about its history, activities, and membership.
