Overview

Anwaltskanzlei Studio Legale Pobitzer is a law firm based in Bozen (Bolzano) in the Italian province of South Tyrol. Its history reaches back to 1906, when Benedikt Pobitzer founded the practice in Bozen. Over more than a century the firm moved between Bozen and Meran, formed partnerships, and gradually expanded its team of lawyers. Today it presents itself as a modern, full-service legal practice that combines tradition with contemporary advisory work, serving clients in German, Italian and beyond in a bilingual border region. The firm's practice is organised around a team of Rechtsanwälte (Italian avvocati) and covers a broad range of legal questions. Its lawyers include Hansjörg Pobitzer, Stephan Vale, Alexa Pobitzer, Alexander Gasser, Armin Reinstadler LL.M., Marion Brugnara, Arno Kornprobst, Ulrich Mamming, Verena Nagler, Jakob Zathammer, Sofia Andergassen, Marion Prast, Nadine Cerboni and Nicola Ponzi. The firm has grown through successive admissions of new lawyers and partners, and it operates additional offices in Meran and Brixen alongside its main seat in Bozen. Pobitzer positions itself as a practice whose advice "overcomes borders" (Grenzen überwindende Beratung), reflecting the cross-border character of South Tyrol, where German- and Italian-speaking legal traditions meet. The firm's long history, its continuous expansion and its multi-lawyer structure make it one of the established law firms in the region. It is a private professional partnership rather than a listed company, and it does not disclose financial figures publicly.

History

The firm's history begins in 1906, when Benedikt Pobitzer founded a law practice in Bozen. In 1924 the practice moved to Meran, and in 1927 it entered into a partnership (Sozietät) with Karl Fasolt. In 1930 Hans Pobitzer joined the firm. After the Second World War, in 1946, the practice relocated back to Bozen. In 1965 Hansjörg Pobitzer joined, marking the next generation's involvement. Between 1980 and 1990 the firm was in a Sozietät with Martin Menghin. Stephan Vale joined in 1993, followed in 1995 by Alexa Pobitzer and Alexander Gasser. In 2000 the four lawyers Hansjörg Pobitzer, Stephan Vale, Alexa Pobitzer and Alexander Gasser founded a partnership, and the office moved to Dantestraße 12/4 in Bozen. Marion Brugnara joined in 2003; Armin Reinstadler and Arno Kornprobst joined in 2004; Ulrich Mamming joined in 2007; and Andreas Reinalter joined in 2008. In 2009 the firm opened a branch office in St. Leonhard in Passeier in cooperation with the Meran law firm Ennemoser & Andriolo. In 2011 Armin Reinstadler, Marion Brugnara and Arno Kornprobst became partners, and the firm opened a branch office in Meran while closing the St. Leonhard branch. In 2012 the Bozen premises were expanded and Verena Nagler and Hermann Moser joined the firm. Jakob Zathammer and Sofia Andergassen joined in 2018. In 2020 Hermann Moser left the firm and was removed from the register of lawyers. Andreas Reinalter left in 2022, the same year Marion Prast and Nadine Cerboni joined and a branch office was opened in Brixen. In 2023 Ulrich Mamming became a partner, Hansjörg Pobitzer left the partnership, and Nicola Ponzi joined the firm. Across more than a century the practice has evolved from a single-founder office into a multi-lawyer partnership with a main seat in Bozen and branch offices in Meran and Brixen, serving clients in the bilingual, cross-border context of South Tyrol.
