Overview

Angelical Records is an independent record label based in San Salvador, El Salvador. It was founded on 8 January 2006 by Mario Pérez and Erick Larios, evolving from their earlier project Proskuneo Producciones. The label initially focused on Christian music but later broadened its scope to reach a general audience. Its first official signing was the band Egeiro, followed by F220 and Mexico's Gravedad Cero. The label has released several EPs and full-length albums, including F220's "Real" (2009) and Victoria's "A Un Paso De La Muerte". It distributes music through its own digital store and iTunes. The label's website has attracted a steady stream of visitors, reflecting its niche following in the Christian rock and metal scene.

History

Angelical Records traces its origins to 2001, when Mario Pérez and Erick Larios met at an evangelical vigil in San Salvador. Mario played guitar in a worship ministry, and Erick was with a group of young people from his church. During a break, they discussed making music together, which led to the formation of the band Egeiro. The band attempted to record music without a proper studio in El Salvador, prompting the creation of Proskuneo Producciones, a project aimed at distributing music with the limited budget available at the time. After four years (2001–2004), both Egeiro and Proskuneo Producciones came to a halt: Mario went to study Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute in Nashville, Tennessee, and Erick got married. During this pause, Mario also worked as a live sound engineer for the Bluegrass band Jimmy Bowen & Santa Fe and with the Nashville label Marian Records. Erick worked at Telecam in San Salvador as a network administrator. In January 2006, Mario returned to El Salvador with the vision of creating a genuinely different record label in the country. On 8 January 2006, Proskuneo Producciones was transformed into Angelical Records, with Egeiro as its first official band. Mario took charge of audio engineering and mixing, while Erick handled technical support, image, and web design. The label's website quickly gained attention. The band F220 (Christian nu metal) became the second signing, followed by Mexico's Gravedad Cero (Christian pop rock). The website now receives approximately 120 to 160 visits per day. As of the Wikipedia article, Angelical Records had released four EP productions and a three-song remix of Gravedad Cero's 2005 album, in addition to distribution. Several bands and artists have been signed, including Victoria and Angel Rosales. The label's first full-length album was F220's "Real", released on 22 March 2009. Its second full-length production was Victoria's "A Un Paso De La Muerte". Both albums include a bonus track exclusive to iTunes and the label's digital store.
