Overview

Amita Holdings Co., Ltd. (アミタホールディングス株式会社) is a Japanese holding company for the Amita Group, a pioneer in the sustainability and circular-economy field. The group traces its origins to April 1977, when Sumieito Kosan Co., Ltd. was established in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture. In 1979 the company made its first proposal and use of waste as an alternative raw material for natural resources, and in 1986 it began manufacturing resources from metal-containing waste. The company was renamed Sumieito Co., Ltd. in 1989, then Amita Co., Ltd. in 2000, and the holding company Amita Holdings was established in January 2010. It has been listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market (formerly Osaka Securities Exchange Hercules) since June 2006, with securities code 2195. The group's mission is to design a sustainable future in which natural capital and human-relationship capital increase as society develops. Its articles of incorporation state that it will conduct only businesses that contribute to increasing natural capital and human-relationship capital, and it practices stakeholder management grounded in public-interest capitalism. Its core competence is described as the information-compilation know-how to "turn uncertainty into certainty," which it applies to circular social-design businesses that use everything without waste. Amita provides multiple businesses based on this core competence: 100% recycling services for highly uncertain generated materials (waste), environmental certification auditing services that visualize the invisible traceability of forest and marine resources, cloud services for environmental management operations, and sustainable community development. Its main operating companies include Amita Co., Ltd. (transition-strategy support for sustainable corporate management and regional operation), Amita Circular Co., Ltd. (circular-material business, manufacturing and supplying circular resources that substitute for natural resources from industrial waste, using proprietary blending technology to recycle more than 4,000 types of industrial waste), AMITA CIRCULAR DESIGN SDN. BHD. (overseas business headquarters in Malaysia), AMIDAO Co., Ltd. (web3-related token-economy design and zero-emission/carbon-neutral support), Codo Advisory Co., Ltd. (a joint venture with MCP Japan Holdings for decarbonization transition strategy), and Circular Links Co., Ltd. (a joint venture with SMFL Mirai Partners for waste-management systems and BPO services). The company is headquartered in Kyoto, with a Tokyo office in Chiyoda. As of December 31, 2025, its capital was 483,560,300 yen and it had 259 consolidated employees. Its representative directors include Chairman and CVO Eisuke Kumano and President and CIOO Takahide Suetsugu. Amita joined the United Nations Global Compact in June 2002 as the fourth Japanese company to do so, and has been involved in initiatives such as the Japan Circular Economy Partnership (J-CEP) launched in October 2021 and the Ecosystem Social Association (ESA) in April 2024. The company also operates distinctive employee systems such as a 32-hour work week and the AMITIME leave-saving system.
