The group operates across five business areas — tour operating, aviation, hotel, travel agencies and incoming — and reported consolidated revenue of 2.3 billion euros in 2025. It states that more than 3.3 million people choose it each year and that it has over 5,000 collaborators. Its legal entity is Alpitour S.p.A., with registered office at Via Lugaro 15, 10126 Torino, Italy.

History

In 1947 Alpi Viaggi was founded as a small travel agency in Cuneo specializing in organizing tourist services by coach and train. In the following years the company began managing the first trains and buses for special events, such as the Holy Year in Rome in 1950, the football World Cup in Switzerland in 1954 and the Universal Exposition in Brussels in 1958. In the 1960s Alpitour introduced all-inclusive packages and leisure flights in Italy to more exotic destinations such as the Maldives, Mauritius and Madagascar. In the 1980s Alpitour installed modern IBM 38 systems connected to 30 video terminals, and in 1985 it introduced EasyBook, a new booking platform for travel agencies. In the 1990s Francorosso, Viaggidea and Jumbo Tours were acquired, and Alpitour became the leading group in tour operating in Italy; the Welcome Travel Group network was also created. Between 2000 and 2016 the hotel and aviation divisions were developed and VOIhotels was created.
