Overview

Allectra Limited (Germany), operating through Allectra GmbH, is a specialist manufacturer and supplier of high vacuum (HV) and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) components. The company was founded in Berlin in 2002 to manufacture and supply electrical feedthroughs, and has since grown into a group with manufacturing facilities in Berlin, Sussex in the United Kingdom, and Villingen-Schwenningen in southern Germany, plus sales offices in Italy and France and a worldwide distributor network. Allectra serves high-technology manufacturing, advanced research facilities, alternative energy, synchrotron science, photonics, fundamental physics research, nanotechnology, and cryogenics. Its product range includes Sub-D feedthroughs, electrical feedthroughs, coaxial feedthroughs, cables and connectors, UHV and high vacuum valves, viewports, hardware, and accessories. The company is known for custom manufacturing and product development, with a team of physicists, technical advisers, engineers, and project managers. Allectra supplies components to CERN and its circular miniature feedthroughs have been adopted as a standard by synchrotrons worldwide. Allectra Limited and Allectra GmbH are ISO 9001 certified. The company remains privately held and continues to invest in manufacturing capabilities across its facilities.

History

Allectra GmbH was founded in Berlin in 2002 to manufacture and supply electrical feedthroughs. In the same period, Allectra Limited was started in Sussex, United Kingdom. By 2005, the company's customers included universities, major synchrotron laboratories, and high technology companies, and Allectra Limited had seen strong growth in custom high vacuum equipment sales to high technology industries in the UK and export markets such as France, Italy, and India. In 2008, Allectra opened a purpose-built facility in East Sussex to expand manufacturing capabilities. In 2014, the company launched a dedicated Italian office to support ongoing growth in custom equipment sales. Allectra then opened a third manufacturing facility in southern Germany (Villingen-Schwenningen) to expand manufacturing capabilities and provide closer links to customers in southern Germany, Switzerland, and neighbouring parts of France. In 2016, Allectra invested in manufacturing capabilities across all three facilities. By 2017, its distributor network had grown to include international partners. Over the last twenty years, the group has expanded to include two further manufacturing facilities—one in Sussex, UK, and one in Villingen-Schwenningen, southern Germany—in addition to sales offices in Italy and France and a network of distributors worldwide. Allectra Limited and Allectra GmbH are ISO 9001 certified. The company continues to develop new products such as circular miniature feedthroughs, SMP feedthroughs, and high current Sub-D feedthroughs, and supplies components to CERN.
