All3Media
A British international television, film and digital production and distribution group operating through a large portfolio of specialist companies and labels.
Last updated August 31, 2026
Overview
All3Media is a British independent television, film and digital production and distribution group headquartered in London. It operates through a portfolio model rather than a single consumer-facing entertainment label: more than 40 production companies, distribution businesses and specialist creative brands have been associated with the group across the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, New Zealand and other international markets. Its activities span scripted drama, comedy, factual programming, natural history, entertainment, reality formats, sport, digital content and the international licensing of television formats and finished programmes. The business developed from Chrysalis's television operations. Earlier corporate forms included Chrysalis Visual Entertainment and Chrysalis TV Group, with the All3Media name adopted in 2003 after the television group was acquired from Chrysalis by a consortium backed by Bridgepoint. The group subsequently expanded through acquisitions and joint ventures, building a network of companies with their own creative identities. These businesses have included Lion Television, Lime Pictures, Studio Lambert, Neal Street Productions, New Pictures, Two Brothers Pictures, Objective Media Group, Raw, Silverback Films, South Pacific Pictures, Aurora Media Worldwide and All3Media Deutschland, among others. All3Media's portfolio approach gives it access to multiple genres and production cultures. Scripted companies have worked on drama and comedy, while factual and entertainment labels have developed documentaries, reality formats, lifestyle programming, competition series and natural-history films. Studio Lambert has been associated with international entertainment formats including The Traitors, and Neal Street Productions has been connected with scripted television such as Call the Midwife. All3Media International has also served as a distribution and format-sales arm, licensing the group's programmes and concepts to broadcasters and platforms outside their original markets. Ownership changed several times during the company's development. Permira acquired All3Media in 2006. Discovery Communications and Liberty Global acquired it in a joint transaction announced in 2014 and completed in 2015. Discovery's ownership later became part of Warner Bros. Discovery following the 2022 merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia, while Liberty Global remained a co-owner. RedBird IMI agreed to acquire All3Media from Warner Bros. Discovery and Liberty Global for approximately £1.15 billion in 2024, and the transaction was completed in May of that year. Jeff Zucker became chairman, while Jane Turton continued as chief executive and Sara Geater continued as chief operating officer. In 2026, All3Media and Banijay Entertainment announced and completed a merger. The combined group retained the All3Media identity for a number of operating units, while All3Media International was folded into Banijay Rights. All3Media is therefore best understood as an international content-production and rights platform whose value lies in its creative labels, intellectual property, production capacity and distribution relationships rather than in a single flagship product.
History
All3Media's origins lie in the television activities of Chrysalis. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Chrysalis Visual Entertainment expanded its production interests through investments and acquisitions, including stakes in South Pacific Pictures in New Zealand and Eclipse Television & Video in Ireland. It also reorganized its British production businesses, placing drama activity under Bentley Productions and creating Chrysalis Entertainment as a broader production division. In 2001, Chrysalis Visual Entertainment became Chrysalis TV Group. The All3Media name emerged in 2003 after a consortium led by former Granada executives acquired the television group from Chrysalis with backing from Bridgepoint. The new company pursued a portfolio strategy, combining multiple independent-minded labels rather than consolidating all production under one name. In early 2004 it created an international formats-sales division and acquired Lion Television, including associated international offices. The acquisition of Mersey Television in 2005 added a major British drama and continuing-series operation; that business was renamed Lime Pictures in 2006. Permira acquired All3Media in 2006. During the following years, the group expanded into continental Europe, North America and additional British genres. It acquired or developed All3Media Deutschland, Maverick Television, Objective Productions, Zoo Productions and Optomen Television. These transactions broadened the group from British television production into comedy, unscripted entertainment, food programming and American production. All3Media also created All3Media America in Los Angeles in 2012. In 2014, Discovery and Liberty Global agreed to acquire All3Media in a joint transaction that was completed in 2015. Under that ownership, the group continued to build its scripted and factual capabilities. It acquired Neal Street Productions, New Pictures, Two Brothers Pictures, Raw, Betty TV and Silverback Films, while forming partnerships and labels such as Studio Ramsay, Woodland Park Productions and West Road Pictures. The company also entered sports production through Aurora Media Worldwide and continued to develop digital and international distribution activities. The ownership structure changed again as Discovery became part of Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022. In parallel, All3Media adjusted its portfolio: Angelica Films left the group in 2022, Maverick Television and Objective Media Group Scotland were combined into 141 Productions, and the group continued to launch or support new labels. In 2024, RedBird IMI acquired All3Media from Warner Bros. Discovery and Liberty Global for approximately £1.15 billion. Jeff Zucker became chairman, with Jane Turton and Sara Geater remaining in senior operating roles. All3Media and Banijay announced a merger in 2026, reportedly completing the transaction on 9 July 2026. The combined organization retained the All3Media name for several operating companies, while All3Media International became part of Banijay Rights. The resulting structure continued All3Media's core model: a network of specialist production companies linked by ownership, development resources and international distribution.
