Overview
Akvedukts (formally AS Akvedukts) is one of the largest wholesalers of water supply, heating and garden products in Latvia. The company takes its name from the aqueduct — a structure whose core function, conveying water, mirrors the company's own business. Its central office and warehouse complex are located in Krustkalni, Ķekavas pagasts, Ķekavas novads, while a network of customer service centres (klientu apkalpošanas centri, KAC) extends across numerous Latvian towns. The business began in 1994 as a limited liability company supplying retail water-supply and sanitary ware shops with water and garden goods from various manufacturers. Over time it became best known as the largest supplier of domestic water pumps in Latvia, and it also developed a specialised line in professional fountain technology, providing engineering calculations and project design — an activity that qualifies the company for the Latvian Construction Contractors Register. Its range later expanded into heating equipment and systems, and cooperation with installation firms, construction companies and municipal utilities grew steadily. Akvedukts operates as a wholesale distributor rather than a consumer retailer, although its customer service centres also offer consulting and retail sales. Its product groups span pumps for water supply, heating and domestic hot-water recirculation; water supply and sewerage piping systems; sanitary ware such as WC pans, washbasins, shower enclosures and mixers; drainage and sewerage equipment including channels and wells; water treatment and filtration equipment; pressure vessels; measuring instruments and water meters; heating boilers (gas, pellet, solid fuel and electric); heating equipment such as piping, radiators and control systems; electric and combined water heaters; irrigation equipment and garden hoses; technical hoses for pressure and suction; and fountains for gardens and technology for public fountains. A key B2B tool is the E-noliktava online ordering system, launched in 2004 and developed into a widely used instrument among construction-sector companies. The company's website also publishes technical information for professionals and amateurs and hosts a discussion page where the company answers visitor questions. Akvedukts AS has four associated companies: Akvedukt OU in Estonia, Naurisa-Akvedukts UAB in Lithuania, and Kros SIA and Avus SIA in Latvia. Turnover reached more than 30 million euros in 2024, and the company is one of the largest employers in Ķekavas novads. Its stated values are reliability, respect and competence. The AKVEDUKTS trademark was registered with the Latvian Patent Office on 20 August 2001. The company is a member of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (since 2010), is listed in the Construction Contractors Register (since 2015), and participates in the State Revenue Service's enhanced cooperation programme.
History
Akvedukts was founded on 20 December 1994 as a limited liability company (sabiedrība ar ierobežotu atbildību). Its initial business focused on supplying retail water-supply and sanitary ware shops with water supply and garden goods from various manufacturers. Over time the company became increasingly recognised as the largest supplier of domestic water pumps in Latvia, though this was not its only field of activity. It also developed a specialised line in professional fountain technology, providing engineering calculations and project design when needed — an activity that led to its inclusion in the Latvian Construction Contractors Register. Over the years the business expanded into heating equipment and systems, and cooperation with installation companies, construction firms and municipal utilities grew stronger. On 24 July 1997, the associated company Akvedukt OU was founded in Estonia. On 1 July 1998, Naurisa-Akvedukts UAB was founded in Lithuania. On 12 June 2004, the automated online ordering system E-noliktava began operating for B2B clients. In 2005, the total area of warehouse and office premises was 3,800 m². In 2008, after construction of the central office and warehouse building, the total area reached 6,100 m². Between 2009 and 2012, the company took over the SPECS retail stores, establishing Akvedukts customer service centres in Jelgava, Liepāja, Gulbene, Alūksne, Madona and Balvi. In 2016, a customer service centre was established in Valmiera, and in 2017 one was established in Saldus. On 2 May 2017, the company changed its legal form to a joint-stock company (akciju sabiedrība). On 23 March 2018, the company acquired Kros SIA. In 2018, a customer service centre was opened in Sigulda. On 5 May 2023, a customer service centre was opened in Valka. On 3 April 2024, office and warehouse premises of 3,157 m² were acquired in Mārupe, Ozolkalni 2. On 9 April 2024, the associated company Avus SIA was established with trading premises in Mārupe, Ozolkalni 2. On 16 October 2025, a customer service centre was opened in Talsi. By 2024, turnover had reached more than 30 million euros, and the company was one of the largest employers in Ķekavas novads. In 2024, eleven employees had more than 20 years of service with the company. The AKVEDUKTS trademark was registered with the Latvian Patent Office on 20 August 2001. The company has been a member of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2010, has been listed in the Construction Contractors Register since 2015, and is a participant in the State Revenue Service's enhanced cooperation programme.
