Ai.Bi. Amici dei Bambini ETS is an Italian non-governmental organization formed by a movement of adoptive and foster families. It was founded in October 1983 on the initiative of two adoptive parents, Marco Griffini and Irene Bertuzzi, with the support of Don Carlo Grammatica and Father Mario Colombo. In January 1986 the movement gave life to Amici dei Bambini. The organization works to combat child abandonment and to guarantee every child the right to grow up in a family, operating in institutions worldwide with reception, support and inclusion projects. It is present in Italy through a national office and a network of 25 regional offices and information points, and in more than 30 countries with operational offices in Eastern Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. It has been registered with RUNTS since 21 March 2024 and became a foundation from October 2024.

Ai.Bi. Associazione Amici dei Bambini was founded in October 1983 on the initiative of two adoptive parents, Marco Griffini and Irene Bertuzzi, with the support of Don Carlo Grammatica and Father Mario Colombo, a missionary of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME) in Brazil. These were the first seeds of the family movement that in January 1986 gave life to Amici dei Bambini. The organization has been an Ente Morale since 1991, an authorized body for international adoption since 1992, and an NGO recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1993. It was registered in the Anagrafe Unica delle Onlus under D.Lgs. 460/97. From 2000 its financial statements were audited by Reconta, Ernst & Young, and from 2011 by PricewaterhouseCoopers SpA. In 2001 it was the first Italian NGO to obtain UNI EN ISO 9001 certification. It received the Oscar di bilancio in 2002 in the Development Cooperation category and in 2005 the Non-Profit Oscar di bilancio and a Special Prize for transparency and richness of information. In 2007 it joined the Carta della Donazione and was certified by the Istituto Italiano della Donazione. It has been registered with RUNTS since 21 March 2024 and became a foundation from October 2024.
