History
In late 1998, a team of seasoned professionals from the medical device and engineering industries united to register A.M.I. as a company, aiming to provide European surgeons with swift, expert support in bringing product ideas to life. In 2000, the HAL method was introduced in Europe as a new, efficient and pain-free approach to treating hemorrhoidal disease with the A.M.I. HAL system; that year also saw the establishment of a sales branch in Germany, now A.M.I. Germany, and the acquisition of DUFOUR Medical S.A. in France, which paved the way for the future subsidiary A.M.I. France. In 2002, A.M.I. received the Innovation Award from the Province of Vorarlberg for its A.M.I. HAL System. In January 2004, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new company headquarters took place in Feldkirch, Austria, and by October of the same year the new "Innovation Office" was completed; A.M.I. was again honored with the Innovation Award from the Province of Vorarlberg, this time for its Anal Band implant for the treatment of Fecal Incontinence. In 2008, construction of the second extension, the "Innovation Facility", took place; the MediKids childcare center opened in November, offering on-site daycare for employees and the community; the A.M.I. Sales Branch opened in Marblehead, Massachusetts, establishing A.M.I.'s entry into the U.S. market; and the ATOMS system was introduced for the treatment of male urinary incontinence and officially published and launched into the market. In 2010, the BSC Mesh and ATOMS Award followed.
