AfriSam is a leading supplier of superior quality construction materials and technical solutions such as cement, aggregate and Readymix concrete. Its cement, aggregate and readymix concrete construction materials have contributed to infrastructure development in Africa for 90 years, and the company has operations in South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini. The AfriSam brand was born in 2008 after several name changes, mergers, company expansions, technological innovations, and the addition of a slagment business.

Our story begins more than 90 years ago with the launch of a seemingly small building materials business: Anglovaal Portland Cement Company Ltd. In 1935 we built our first cement plant in Roodepoort and just a year later the construction of our first limestone factory commenced. Our merger with Atlas Cement in 1937 meant that we could build on our expertise and provide even better service to our consumers. By 1966 we had commissioned three cement kilns at our Dudfield Cement Factory and in 1996 we extended our reach into East Africa by acquiring majority shares in Tanga Cement Company PLC, trading under the name Simba Cement. In 1977 and 1993, we expanded our business by incorporating Hippo Quarries and Pioneer Concrete respectively into the AfriSam Group. After several name changes, mergers, company expansions, technological innovations, and adding a slagment business to our portfolio, the AfriSam brand was born in 2008.

• All Purpose Cement

  A specially engineered superior quality cement for use in a wide variety of structural, residential, brick & block as well as masonry applications.

• Rapid Hard Cement

  Ideal for use in the precast concrete industry where faster demoulding times are required, as well as for fast-track construction projects to facilitate earlier stripping of formwork.

• High Strength Cement

  A specially developed composite cement for use in brick- and block-making, reservoirs, precast operations, structural concrete, shotcrete and mining operations.

• Roadstab Cement

  A specially engineered composite, high quality cement for use specifically in road stabilisation, ensuring uniform distribution of the stabilising agent throughout the stabilised layer.

• StarBuild Cement

  A 32,5N cement and cost-effective alternative for applications not requiring high early-strength development. It is suitable for a limited range of applications in the build environment where it offers consistent performance.

• Slagment

  Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS), otherwise known as slag, is a by-product of the steel and iron industry which is milled to a fine consistency.
