AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd.

AEON Financial Service Co., Ltd. is the comprehensive finance business of the AEON Group, described on its official site as a retail-originated comprehensive financial group operating in 11 countries and regions including Japan. It was established in June 1981 as Nihon Credit Service Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Jusco Co., Ltd., and was renamed AEON Credit Service Co., Ltd. in August 1994. The company provides financial services close to customers' daily lives under its stated purpose of bringing finance closer to people.

AEON Financial Service was established in June 1981 as Nihon Credit Service Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Jusco Co., Ltd. In July 1981 it began operations by undertaking Jusco's credit card business. In December 1981 it started shopping credit operations, and in 1982 it began handling credit card loans. In April 1984 it registered as a money lending business. In September 1984 it began installing cash dispensers (CDs). In May 1985 it began insurance operations as a life insurance solicitation agency. In May 1986 it issued the Jusco Post Office shared card. In 1987 it opened a Hong Kong branch, its first overseas base, starting business development in Asia. In December 1988 it partnered with Visa Japan Association and issued the Jusco VISA Card. In July 1989 it registered as an installment purchase intermediary. In January 1990 it established NCS Kosan Co., Ltd. (now AEON Insurance Service Co., Ltd.) as a wholly owned subsidiary. In July 1990 it established a local corporation in Hong Kong, now AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd. In December 1992 it established a local corporation in Thailand, now AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) PCL. In August 1994 it changed its trade name to AEON Credit Service Co., Ltd. In December 1994 its shares were registered over-the-counter. In September 1995 its Hong Kong subsidiary AEON Credit Service (Asia) Co., Ltd. listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In December 1996 it listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and established ACS Credit Service (M) Sdn. Bhd. (now AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad) in Malaysia. In August 1998 it was designated to the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. In February 1999 it established ACS Credit Management Co., Ltd. (now ACS Debt Collection Co., Ltd.) as a wholly owned subsidiary. In December 1999 it established AEON Credit Service (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. In May 2000 it established AEON Information Service (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, China. In 2000 it began issuing the AEON Card. In December 2001 its Thai subsidiary AEON Thana Sinsap (Thailand) PCL. listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. In August 2002 it established AEON Credit Card (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. In January 2005 it established ACS Insurance Broker (Thailand) Co., Ltd. In March 2006 AEON Co., Ltd. announced its entry into the banking business. In May 2006 it established AEON General Finance Preparation Co., Ltd. as a bank preparation company and established PT. AEON Credit Service Indonesia. In August 2006 it established AEON Credit Guarantee (China) Co., Ltd. in Beijing, China. In October 2006 it established ACS Life Insurance Broker (Thailand) Co., Ltd. In March 2007 it established ACS Servicing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. In October 2007 AEON General Finance Preparation Co., Ltd. changed its name to AEON Bank, Ltd., obtained a banking license from the Financial Services Agency, and began operations. In October 2007 it obtained a bank agency license. In December 2007 its Malaysian subsidiary AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad listed on Bursa Malaysia. In February 2008 it established AEON Credit Technology System (Philippines) Inc. (now AEON Credit Service Systems (Philippines) Inc.) in the Philippines. In February 2008 its subsidiary NCS Kosan Co., Ltd. integrated the insurance agency businesses of AEON Co., Ltd. and AEON Mall Co., Ltd. and changed its name to AEON Insurance Service Co., Ltd. In May 2008 it established ACS Trading Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Vietnam. In November 2008 it established AEON Insurance Brokers (HK) Limited in Hong Kong. In July 2009 AEON Co., Ltd. and NTT DoCoMo established the joint company AEON Marketing Co., Ltd. In July 2010 MC Small Amount Short Term Insurance Co., Ltd. (now AEON Small Amount Short Term Insurance) was established.
