History

ACTION Plus was founded in April 1993 by a group of young Beninese who were concerned about the development challenges facing their country. The organization emerged from the observation that, despite state efforts to ensure the well-being of the population, poverty persisted and its consequences manifested in various ways. The founders sought to contribute to alleviating these problems in disadvantaged areas. In July 1996, the association was officially registered with the Ministry of the Interior, Security and Territorial Administration (MISAT) under number 96/114/MISAT/DC/DAI/SAAP ASSOC, giving it legal status to operate. Since its registration, ACTION Plus has developed programs in environmental protection, social protection, and training. It has worked on ecosystem conservation, particularly mangrove ecosystems, and has partnered with various municipalities and organizations. Notable collaborations include work with SOGEA SATOM on the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, with PISCCA on training for the transformation of jonc and Senegal date palm, and with Louvain Coopération on sustainable mangrove management in Ouidah. The organization has also received recognition for its governance, including a labeling attestation under the leadership of Executive Director Mr. OGOU Maixent, highlighting its transparency, efficiency, and integrity. ACTION Plus continues to operate in Benin, focusing on social protection, environmental safeguarding, and training, and remains open to developing complementary partnerships to address the major challenges affecting disadvantaged communities.
