The foundation's story began in 1993 with a sociology student at Boğaziçi University who distributed food, clothing, supplies and books to those in need; the movement grew as volunteers and donors increased. The founder is Dr. Ebru Nurluoğlu.

History

The foundation's story began in 1993, when a young female sociology student at Boğaziçi University decided she could not be satisfied with what she had done so far in the face of income inequality, poverty, and society's indifference to those in material and spiritual distress. Since primary school she had personally delivered food, clothing, supplies and books to those in need; in high school she gave private lessons and used the money to support people in need, and sent blankets and winter clothing to eastern provinces. When she started university, she prepared a brochure to encourage the spread of goodness. The people she helped surprised her by distributing this brochure in the streets. Thus the movement of goodness grew, making her happy and leading her to help more people. With the slogan 'You may not need it, but they do' printed on the brochures, AİP Vakfı volunteers began sending aid to those in need in hard-to-reach regions of Turkey. Over time, as the foundation's success attracted media and public attention, the number of volunteers and donors increased rapidly. The foundation was established when its founder, Dr. Ebru Nurluoğlu, realized her student dream, and over the years it has improved thousands of lives in Turkey and around the world.
