Overview

Academic and Scientific Publishers NV (ASP) was a Belgian academic and scientific publishing house based in Brussels. It operated from late 2006 until the end of 2023, when it was acquired by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts and integrated into its academic imprint Owl Press. ASP specialised in scholarly publications across the social sciences and humanities, and was included on the publisher list of the Flemish Academic Bibliographic Database for the Social Sciences and Humanities (VABB-SHW). From 2020 it positioned itself as an open access publisher and established an independent university-wide editorial board for its GPRC procedure. Its six core domains were political and social sciences; philosophy, worldview and religions; history; spatial planning, mobility and urban studies; communication sciences; and public management, economics and entrepreneurship. The imprint VUBPRESS, the publishing house of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, was also part of ASP editions. Since January 2024, ASP has been absorbed into Owl Press, the academic imprint of Borgerhoff & Lamberigts, and its titles are now available through the Borgerhoff & Lamberigts webshop.
