Overview

AARBA — the Association for the Advancement of Radical Behavior Analysis — is an Italian non-profit scientific association headquartered in Milan. Since 2001 it has worked to promote the development and dissemination of Behavior Analysis both in the academic world and in civil society, pursuing this goal in synergy with national and international bodies and institutions in the fields of education, healthcare and organizations. The association is aimed at anyone interested in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and in particular at those seeking training courses in behavior analysis applied to the fields of Autism and Clinical Behavior Analysis, as well as Organizational Behavior Management (OBM) — covering safety, production, leadership and quality. AARBA presents itself as the home of Behavior-Based Safety (B-BS) and Performance Management (PM). AARBA forms, together with the Associazione Italiana di Analisi e Modificazione del Comportamento e Terapia Comportamentale e Cognitiva (AIAMC), the only Italy Associate Chapter of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI). It also collaborates with authoritative institutes and networks in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, such as the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies (CCBS), the Organizational Behavior Management Network (OBM Network) and the Standard Celeration Society (SCS). Its membership includes not only behavior analysts but also physicians, psychotherapists, academics, educators and managers, all sharing the priority of adopting the scientific method for the prediction and control of human behavior. AARBA's Scientific Committee is made up of leading experts in learning methodologies in Italy, with hundreds of experimental research studies and sector manuals to their credit, many of them internationally known in the specific areas of cognitive rehabilitation, autism, Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Performance Management (PM) and learning. The association publishes JARBA (Journal of Applied Radical Behavior Analysis), its official semi-annual journal, which disseminates Behavior Analysis and Scientific Psychology through research by Italian and foreign scholars. AARBA is authorized to translate articles from prestigious international publications such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management (JOBM) and the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB). It also organizes events, conferences and high-level training courses, including a recurring Advanced Training Course in Behavior Based Safety (BBS), and offers membership to a community with access to courses, congresses and dedicated opportunities.

History

AARBA — the Association for the Advancement of Radical Behavior Analysis — is an Italian non-profit scientific association based in Milan. According to its own account, it has been active since 2001, working to promote the development and dissemination of Behavior Analysis both in the academic world and in civil society. From the outset this objective has been pursued in synergy with national and international bodies and institutions in the fields of education, healthcare and organizations. Over the years AARBA has built an international scientific network. Together with the Associazione Italiana di Analisi e Modificazione del Comportamento e Terapia Comportamentale e Cognitiva (AIAMC), it constitutes the only Italy Associate Chapter of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI). It has also collaborated for several years with authoritative institutes and networks in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), such as the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies (CCBS), the Organizational Behavior Management Network (OBM Network) and the Standard Celeration Society (SCS). AARBA's membership base is broad: it counts not only behavior analysts but also physicians, psychotherapists, academics, educators and managers, all sharing the priority of adopting the scientific method for the prediction and control of human behavior. Its Scientific Committee is composed of leading experts in learning methodologies in Italy, with hundreds of experimental research studies and sector manuals to their credit; many of them are internationally known in specific areas such as cognitive rehabilitation, autism, Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), Performance Management (PM) and learning. The association publishes JARBA (Journal of Applied Radical Behavior Analysis), its official semi-annual journal, whose purpose is the dissemination of Behavior Analysis and Scientific Psychology through the publication of research carried out in this field by Italian and foreign scholars. AARBA is authorized to translate articles from prestigious international publications such as the Journal of Organizational Behavior Management (JOBM) and the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (JEAB). JARBA pays particular attention to topics including crime, safety, fitness, handicap and cognitive rehabilitation, Performance Management, programmed instruction and instructional design, precision teaching and e-learning, epistemology, deontology, marketing of politics, customer behavior, as well as clinical, medical, educational and school psychology. Past editions have collected congress proceedings, for example the 2020 edition covering the 16th European Conference on Applied Behavior Analysis: Behavior-Based Safety and Autism Congresses, and the 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016 editions covering behavior-based safety and performance management in production and healthcare companies. AARBA also runs an active program of events and training. Its website lists recurring Advanced Training Courses in Behavior Based Safety (BBS) — by 2026 it had reached its 54th edition — as well as participation in trade events such as Ambiente Lavoro. In April 2026 the association announced that its advanced training course in Behavior Analysis was the first in Italy to receive international accreditation from ABAI under the Tiered Model of Education. The association also invites supporters to become members, joining a community with access to courses, congresses and dedicated opportunities.
