Overview
The 11th Masurian Artillery Regiment (11 Mazurski Pułk Artylerii im. gen. Józefa Bema) was an artillery unit of the Polish Armed Forces, formed by 31 December 2010 in the garrison of Węgorzewo on the basis of the 1st Masurian Artillery Brigade. It incorporated personnel and equipment from the disbanded 1st Ciechanów Artillery Regiment and the 14th Anti-Tank Artillery Battalion from Suwałki. From 1 January 2011 to 17 October 2013 the regiment was subordinate to the Land Forces, after which it came under the 16th Mechanized Division as part of a command-structure reform. The regiment was the first unit in the Polish Army to receive a battery of the Regina programme's self-propelled howitzers, taking delivery of eight Krab guns, three WD/WDSz command and fire-control vehicles, weapon and electronics repair vehicles, and ammunition vehicles on 30 November 2012. Qualification tests and operational-military trials of this equipment were subsequently conducted in the regiment. From August 2017 the regiment received a full divisional fire module of 24 serial-production Krab guns and accompanying vehicles. On 12 December 2022 the regiment was once again transformed into the 1st Masurian Artillery Brigade. Its organizational structure included a command element, a command battalion with Liwiec artillery reconnaissance radar and FlyEye unmanned aerial vehicles, two self-propelled artillery battalions (Dana and Krab howitzers), two rocket artillery battalions (WR-40 Langusta and BM-21 Grad), a logistics battalion, and an engineer company. The regiment cultivated traditions dating back to 1810 and celebrated its annual holiday on 3 September.
