Overview
0711 Entertainment is a Stuttgart-based creative agency and cultural marketing network that traces its origins to the hip-hop scene of the mid-1990s. Founded in 1996 by Jean-Christoph "Schowi" Ritter and Johannes "Strachi" Strachwitz, the venture began as the "0711 Club" event series, which quickly became a central meeting point for the German hip-hop community. Artists such as Freundeskreis, Afrob, and Massive Töne performed there, helping to bring rap into the mainstream. The success of these events led to the founding of the 0711 Büro, an office and community hub that organized events across Stuttgart and beyond. Over time, 0711 expanded from event promotion into a full-service agency. It established units such as 0711 Livecom for live communication and event management, 0711 Digital for digital communication and influencer marketing, and 0711 Talents for talent activation in brand communication. The agency also operates in cultural marketing, social media, PR stunts, guerrilla marketing, and corporate events. Its client roster includes major brands such as adidas, Red Bull, and Ineratec, for which it has executed high-profile activations and launches. In 1999, the founders registered 0711 Records GmbH, which was renamed Kopfnicker Records GmbH in 2000. This independent hip-hop label released numerous vinyl singles and albums, including the compilation "Kopfnicker – Das Album," which entered the German album charts at No. 23 in 2001. In 2002, 0711 Booking, 0711 Promotion, and Kopfnicker Records GmbH merged to form 0711 Entertainment GmbH, which continues today as the communication agency 0711 Büro. Today, 0711 Entertainment operates as a private company headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. It remains active in the creative and marketing industry, leveraging its deep roots in youth culture to connect brands with audiences through authentic, culturally relevant campaigns.
History
The history of 0711 Entertainment is closely intertwined with the development of German hip-hop. In 1996, Jean-Christoph "Schowi" Ritter and Johannes "Strachi" Strachwitz, both from the Stuttgart hip-hop collective Kolchose, started an event series called "0711 Club" at the Prag in Stuttgart. Originally intended as a good party, it quickly became the living room of the hip-hop scene. Artists like Freundeskreis, Afrob, and Massive Töne performed there, and rap became socially acceptable. The two founders then established the 0711 Büro, an office and community hub that organized events across Stuttgart, making the city a hip-hop capital. The 0711 name became a seal of quality, and events like the HipHop Open and MTV appearances brought international attention. As the network grew, brands recognized that 0711 could open doors that no media budget could. The agency expanded into new services and units: 0711 Livecom for live communication and event management, 0711 Digital for digital communication and influencer marketing, and 0711 Talents for talent activation in brand communication. This marked the transition from a pure event promoter to a full-service creative agency. In parallel, the founders ventured into the music business. On 18 November 1999, they registered 0711 Records GmbH at the Stuttgart district court. On 22 February 2000, it was renamed Kopfnicker Records GmbH. The label emerged from the experiences and connections the founders had gathered over the years. Kai Kirschhoff, formerly at Columbia/Sony, was the initial managing director, and DJ Emilio served as talent scout and A&R. The label consistently released its records on vinyl first. Its first release was the 12-inch "Kopfnicker Kollabo feat. Spax, David Pe, Massive Töne, MB 1000 & DJ Mirko Machine – Charakters," which appeared exclusively on the Juice MasterBlaster sampler. Numerous other 12-inch singles followed, including TimXtreme's "Weird Shit" (Juice 12-inch of the month), Skills en Masse's "Wie Wir," Shabazz the Disciple's "Brooklyn Bullshit," and Massive Töne's "2 Mille." On 22 January 2001, the compilation "Kopfnicker – Das Album" was released and entered the German album charts at No. 23. Twelve more releases followed until 12 April 2002, when 0711 Booking, 0711 Promotion, and Kopfnicker Records GmbH merged to form 0711 Entertainment GmbH. Under this name, the last releases were Karibik Frank aka Franky Kubrick's 12-inch "Rücken zur Wand" and the LP "French Connection" in 2003. Since then, 0711 Entertainment GmbH has continued as the communication agency 0711 Büro. The agency has executed campaigns for major brands such as adidas (PR stunts for the EURO 2024 jersey launch), Red Bull (Wings for Life World Run), and Ineratec (opening of Europe's largest Power-to-Liquid plant). It also organizes the KI-Festival in Heilbronn, which attracted around 13,500 visitors in 2025. Today, 0711 Entertainment remains a private company headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, active in cultural marketing, live communication, and digital marketing.
