Great Wall Motor filed a recall plan for 71,319 Great Wall Cannon vehicles produced from September 24, 2019, to August 9, 2020, with the recall scheduled to begin on September 1, 2020. The vehicles’ manuals did not sufficiently warn about risks from using the tow hook in special circumstances, creating a risk of misuse and possible tow-hook breakage in extreme use. Great Wall Motor said it would replace the electronic manuals, add warning labels, and provide a free technical upgrade to the tow hooks.

8月28日，国家市场监督管理总局网站信息显示，长城汽车股份有限公司根据《缺陷汽车产品召回管理条例》和《缺陷汽车产品召回管理条例实施办法》的要求，向国家市场监督管理总局备案了召回计划。
本次召回范围内车辆由于车辆使用说明书未充分明示拖车钩在特殊使用场景下可能带来的危险，无法起到足够的警示作用，存在紧急情况下误用的可能，在极端使用情况下可能会发生拖车钩断裂，存在安全隐患。
决定自2020年9月1日起，召回2019年9月24日至2020年8月9日期间生产的长城炮汽车，共计71319辆。
