Overview
Zhenhai District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (镇海区中医医院), also known as the general hospital of the Zhenhai District Longsai Medical Group, is a public traditional Chinese medicine hospital in Zhenhai District, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. Its origins trace to the Chengguan District Chinese and Western Medicine Joint Clinic established in February 1953. After relocating to Renmin Road in 1954 and being reorganized as the Chengguan Town Health Center in May 1970, the institution was formally established as a hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in May 1990. It was rated a Grade II-B TCM hospital in November 2005 and moved to its current site at No. 51 Huancheng West Road on 30 December 2008. In January 2024 it was upgraded to a Grade III-B TCM hospital. The hospital operates as the lead institution of the Zhenhai District Longsai Medical Group, a county-level medical community (医共体) formed in 2019 that also includes Zhenhai District Longsai Hospital and the community health service centers of Zhaobaoshan Street and Jiaochuan Street. Through this group structure, the hospital coordinates specialist care, referral pathways, and shared services across its network. It has also built external partnerships, becoming the Ningbo Branch of Longhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in July 2017, and the Zhenhai Branch of Ningbo No. 2 Hospital in 2022. Clinically, the hospital offers a broad range of TCM and integrated Chinese-Western medicine services. Its key disciplines include pediatrics, otorhinolaryngology–head and neck surgery, gynecology, oncology, proctology, orthopedics and traumatology, cardiovascular medicine, intensive care medicine, integrated cardiovascular medicine, general surgery and urology, an anesthesia and surgery center, and neurology. Its specialist outpatient clinics cover areas such as gastroenterology (spleen and stomach diseases), liver disease, and cardiovascular medicine, supported by a roster of named experts. The hospital is a public institution under the Zhenhai District government and is not listed on any stock exchange. It publishes governance, procurement, pricing, and personnel information through the group website, reflecting the transparency requirements applied to public hospitals in China. Its stated mission centers on delivering accessible, high-quality traditional Chinese medicine and integrated care to residents of Zhenhai District and the surrounding Ningbo area.
