Beijing Xintiandi Kindergarten needle-prick child abuse case: teacher sentenced
In 2017, a child abuse incident at RYB Education's Xintiandi Kindergarten in Beijing drew widespread attention. In 2018, a first-instance court found teacher Liu Yanan guilty of pricking four young children with a needle-like object, sentencing her to one year and six months in prison and barring her from working in child-related industries. Siping franchised kindergarten needle-prick child abuse case: teacher sentenced
In 2015, young children at an RYB Education franchised kindergarten in Siping, Jilin, were pricked with needles and intimidated by a teacher. The teacher was held criminally liable, and in 2017 a first-instance civil ruling awarded damages to the victims' families, who were dissatisfied with the compensation and with the finding of liability for the franchised brand. This case is separate from the 2017 Xintiandi Kindergarten case in Beijing.
