Fulinmen and Jinlongyu Soybean Salad Oil Exceeded Acid Value and Were Notified by the Ministry of Health; Fulinmen Questioned Sampling Procedure and Planned to Sue
In December 2004, a Ministry of Health sampling notice reported that the acid value of some edible vegetable oils exceeded the national standard, involving Jinlongyu and Fulinmen brand soybean salad oil; the products were ordered recalled and removed from shelves in multiple places. Jinlongyu recalled the involved batch; COFCO's Fulinmen said the sampling procedure was illegal and that a retest was qualified, and threatened to go to court with the Ministry of Health. Impact and handling: it became a major quality storm in the edible oil industry that year (the products involved were edible oil, not flour). Progress: regulatory notice. Entities involved: COFCO (Fulinmen brand), Yihai Kerry (Jinlongyu brand). Related scope: the involved batches of Fulinmen and Jinlongyu soybean salad oil in 2004 (parent brand event).
