‘Officially Authenticated’ Product Ruled Counterfeit; Platform Ordered to Refund and Pay Triple Compensation
Dewu APP touts 'authenticate first, ship later,' but authentication services have long been a major source of consumer complaints, and the platform’s model of 'both selling goods and authenticating' and its opaque standards have been widely questioned; it was named in a Consumer Daily 3·15 special report. In 2025, a law teacher bought a Swarovski product on Dewu that had undergone 'official authenticity verification,' and the brand determined it was not genuine. After the teacher sued, the court found that Dewu knew it had not obtained authorization but still promoted the product as 'genuine,' constituting fraud, and ordered refund and triple compensation. The judgment has exemplary significance for the legal liability of platform authentication promises.
