Overview
Saint Sever Center (Centre Commercial Saint Sever) is a major shopping centre located on the left bank of the Seine in the Saint-Sever district of Rouen, Normandy, France. Inaugurated on 23 October 1978 by Rouen mayor Jean Lecanuet, alongside Minister of Commerce and Crafts Jacques Barrot and Seine-Maritime prefect Pierre Bolotte, it has grown into the largest shopping centre in Normandy, ahead of Mondeville 2 in Caen and Océane in Le Havre. It is also described as the most visited shopping centre in Normandy and serves as a second city centre for Rouen. The centre brings together around one hundred shops, including an E.Leclerc hypermarket (formerly Super M), a 14-screen cinema, and a wide range of ready-to-wear, optical, beauty, hairdressing, mobile phone and restaurant brands. It also houses a library and an annex town hall. The official website highlights 80 boutiques, 14 restaurants, 1 cinema and E.Leclerc. A parking facility with 1,800 spaces is managed by Vinci, and there is a service station accessible from Avenue de Bretagne. The site is served by the Saint-Sever metro station. Ownership has changed over the years. The Dutch group Wereldhave acquired the site in 2014 and carried out a major renovation from October 2017 to autumn 2019, with 18 new stores opening on 4 December 2018. In 2021 Wereldhave sold the centre to Lighthouse Capital Ltd. A Primark store opened on 1 December 2023. The centre continues to evolve, with new brands such as Rituals opening on 18 June and community initiatives such as a free monthly Run Club organised with the adidas store.
