History

Nankai Building Service was established on 1 April 1978 by Nankai Electric Railway Co., Ltd. as a building and facility management company within the NANKAI Group. In November 1978, shortly after its founding, it was entrusted with the equipment management operations of Namba CITY, an early anchor contract that tied the company to the development of the Namba district around Nankai's terminal. Through the 1980s and 1990s the company expanded its maintenance and management portfolio. In March 1990 it took on equipment management and cleaning for the Nankai South Tower Hotel Osaka, later known as the Swissôtel Nankai Osaka. In August 2002 it was entrusted with the integrated management of Namba Parks, and in December 2004 with the integrated management of Hashimoto Municipal Hospital, extending its reach from commercial facilities into public and medical institutions. In May 2006 the company opened a Tokyo branch, marking a step beyond its Kansai home base. In April 2011 it became designated administrator of Kishiwada City Namikiri Hall together with the JTB Group. In October 2015 it was entrusted with cleaning management for Suita City Football Stadium. In July 2016 it made Life Community Co., Ltd. a subsidiary. In October 2018 it took on the integrated management of Namba SkyO, another major Namba redevelopment property. In October 2019 the company concluded a naming-rights agreement with Kishiwada City for Kishiwada City Namikiri Hall, under which the facility was named 'Nankai Namikiri Hall' until 31 March 2022. In the 2020s the company has continued to expand through acquisitions and organizational change: its official news lists the acquisition and subsidiarization of Tokiwa Co., Ltd. (a holding company) and Sanken Co., Ltd. (an operating company) in September 2026, and an organizational restructuring in April 2026. As of the fiscal year ending March 2026 the company reported sales of 29.6 billion yen and 1,841 employees as of 1 April 2026.
