History
Kinrei was founded in 1934 in Shiba, Minato, Tokyo (then Shiba Ward, Tokyo City) as Suzuki Kogyo. In 1947, it was incorporated as Kotobuki Suzumaki Seisakusho. In 1950, it developed a vertical bunching twisting machine, which was created by founder Yukitoshi Suzuki and is considered the origin of today's Kinrei. The company developed a shield horizontal winding machine in 1957 and a resistance wire horizontal winding machine in 1959. In 1960, it developed a vertical three-layer concentric twisting machine, followed by a vertical double-twist bunching machine in 1967. A Saitama factory was established in 1970. In 1971, it developed a Φ300 double twist buncher and a forced-drive wire feeding machine. In 1975, it developed a Φ500 double twist buncher. In 1978, capital was increased to 20 million yen, and a Φ400 capstan-less single twist buncher was developed. In 1984, the second Saitama factory was completed in Nagano, Gyoda City. In 1985, a CAD system was introduced in the design department. In 1986, a high-speed double twist buncher was developed. In 1987, the headquarters building was completed in Shiba, Minato. In 1991, the company changed its name to Kinrei Corporation. In 1992, a factory (I.S.W.) was completed in Isawa, Iwate. In 1997, the HK560 double twist buncher received a Good Design Award. In 1998, cumulative shipments of bunchers to the United States reached 1,000 units, and ultra-fine tubular machines TU10 and vertical shield horizontal winding machine L3Y were developed. In 1999, capital was increased to 45 million yen. In 2000, 3D CAD was fully introduced in the development department, and a LAN cable untwisting device PV5D and FTH constant tension wire feeding machine were developed. In 2001, the Iwate factory building was expanded, and ultra-fine wire tubular TU8 was developed. In 2002, the Saitama factory was closed and production was consolidated at the Iwate factory. In 2003, ultra-fine dedicated in-out type bunchers DFV8 (vertical) and DFH8 (horizontal) were developed. In 2004, a joint venture KSW was established in Jiangsu, China (now dissolved). In 2005, a right-twist dedicated Φ630 double twist buncher BZ6R and vertical shield horizontal winding machine VX25 were developed. In 2006, a Φ914 double twist buncher B-914 was developed. In 2007, a φ630 double twist buncher DB630 with new winding control was developed. In 2009, the Iwate factory building (sheet metal and painting area) was expanded. In 2010, ultra-fine wire tubulars TU5-7B and TU5-12B were developed. In 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred. In 2013, the double twist buncher DT series was developed, best-selling NB500 and NB300 renewal machines were developed, and patent No. 5603754 was obtained. In 2016, headquarters functions were relocated to the Iwate factory. In 2017, the vertical high-speed twisting machine LX series was developed. In 2018, VX30 was added to the vertical high-speed shield horizontal winding machine. In 2020, the auto traverse BLT series was developed. In 2022, Kinrei Inc., Korea Branch was established. In 2023, the company was commended at the Reiwa 5th Iwate Prefecture Industrial Safety and Health Conference. In 2024, it celebrated its 90th anniversary.
