History
AiB Records was founded in 2001 by Dmitry Sudzilovsky, leader of the punk-rock band «Тринадцатое Созвездие». The label quickly became a notable independent player in the Russian rock and punk scene, publishing over two hundred releases by bands from Russia and the CIS. Its catalogue includes albums and compilations by «Тринадцатое Созвездие», «Монгол Шуудан», «Разные люди», «Элизиум», «Тайм-Аут», «НАИВ», «Тараканы!», «Приключения Электроников», «Адо», «Бахыт-Компот», «Пилот», «Слот», «Декабрь», «Пурген», Distemper, Spitfire, «Блондинка КсЮ», «Лампасы», «Фиги» and others. The label is especially known for its punk-rock compilations. In 2005 and 2006 the label organised its own «АиБ Фестиваль». The first took place on 17 September 2005 at the Sexton bike centre in Moscow, owned by the Night Wolves motorcycle club. Eight acts performed: «Пилот», «Тараканы!», «Тринадцатое Созвездие», «НАИВ», «Блондинка КсЮ», «Разные люди», «Все стволы» and «Приключения Электроников». The festival faced logistical problems: «Монгол Шуудан» could not appear because its leader Valery Skoroded was hospitalised; the venue limited entry and stopped ticket sales; police restricted food sales and shortened the event by an hour; and attendees were caught in rain. Nevertheless, the label considered the event a success and promised improvements. Fragments were later included in the video compilation «Из PUNKта А в PUNKт Б». The second «АиБ Фестиваль» was held on 13 May 2006 at the Gorbunov Palace of Culture in Moscow, a venue significant to Russian rock. Twelve bands performed, including «Пилот», «Разные люди», «НАИВ», «Монгол Шуудан», «Тараканы!», «Тринадцатое Созвездие», «Элизиум», «Приключения Электроников», «ФИГИ», «Тени Свободы», «Декабрь» and E.S.T. A video compilation «АиБ Фестиваль № 2» documented the event. Other events organised by the label include a mini-tour «Высшая школа панка шагает по стране» (16–18 November 2006) in Yaroslavl, Ivanovo and Vladimir, co-organised with Ilya Ostrovsky, which resulted in a video album; the tenth and final «Панкомания» festival on 19 November 2006 at the art club «Сцена» in Moscow; and the «Мы победили» festival on 29 April 2010 at club «ХО» in Moscow, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, where attendees received a compilation «Мы победили!» released by AiB Records in 2006. The label also held presentation concerts for many of its releases in Moscow, including for «Разные люди» (911, CDK MAI), «Тараканы!» («Властелины вселенной», club «Точка», plus a Russian tour), «Тринадцатое Созвездие» («А на нашей улице весна!», club «Б2»), «НАИВ» («Наивные песни», club «Точка») and «Пурген» («Трансформация идеалов», club «Точка»). On 1 May 2008 the label opened its own recording studio, «АиБ Студия», which operated until 3 November 2018. The label remains active in the Russian rock and punk scene.
