In 2024, Frédéric Martin stepped down as director, handing over to a triumvirate of Charlotte Bréhat, François Bétremieux, and Aglaé de Chalus. On 1 January 2025, Martin became director of Éditions Robert Laffont. Le Tripode's books have won numerous awards, including the Grand prix de l'Imaginaire, the prix Renaudot, the Prix du roman Fnac, and the prix du livre Inter.

History

Éditions Le Tripode was founded in 2012 by Frédéric Martin, an editor who had previously worked at Éditions Viviane Hamy and co-founded Éditions Attila. The new house emerged from a split within Attila. Inspired by the work of Jean-Jacques Pauvert, who sought to 'open a place of asylum for singular spirits', Le Tripode publishes books that, in salutary fashion, take the reader out of the ordinary march of the world. The company is based in Paris and releases about twenty titles per year. Its catalogue spans literary fiction, poetry, essays, and illustrated works, with authors such as Edgar Hilsenrath, Goliarda Sapienza, Valérie Manteau, Bérengère Cournut, Charlotte Salomon, Marie Redonnet, Ali Zamir, Jacques Abeille, Andrus Kivirähk, Jacques Roubaud, Raphaël Meltz, Alexandra David-Néel, Hadrien Klent, Marc Graciano, and Mathieu Belezi. In 2019, Le Tripode was elected 'small publisher of the year' at the Trophées de l'Édition. In 2024, Frédéric Martin left the direction, handing over to a triumvirate composed of Charlotte Bréhat, who became general and editorial director, François Bétremieux, and Aglaé de Chalus. On 1 January 2025, Frédéric Martin took the direction of Éditions Robert Laffont. The house has won numerous literary prizes, including the Grand prix de l'Imaginaire du roman étranger in 2014 for Andrus Kivirähk's L'Homme qui savait la langue des serpents, the prix Renaudot in 2018 for Valérie Manteau's Le Sillon, the Prix du roman Fnac in 2019 for Bérengère Cournut's De pierre et d'os, and the prix du livre Inter in 2023 for Mathieu Belezi's Attaquer la terre et le soleil.
