Martial-law human-rights abuses
The province experienced political violence and human-rights abuses during the Marcos martial-law period, including the killings of lawyers Jacobo Amatong and Zorro Aguilar and the 1975 killing of Leo Alto and a Subanon companion. The victims were later recognized by the Bantayog ng mga Bayani memorial.
