    Hidden Camera Found in Platform Short-Term Rental; C2C Rules Harm Consumer Rights

    In March 2019, a couple in Xi'an found a camera inside the television of a short-term rental booked on Xiaozhu. That same year, China Quality Daily reported that its C2C model had issues including inconsistent order exemption periods and pre-checked agreement boxes, harming consumer rights. Xiaozhu was also ordered to pay about RMB 133,000 for misappropriating photos of Yiyi Short Rental listings. The platform said the landlord was responsible for management and that it cooperated with the police investigation.
