Sinclair–Tribune transaction collapse and litigation
After regulatory opposition to Sinclair Broadcast Group's proposed acquisition of Tribune Media, Tribune terminated the agreement and filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit. WTIC-TV was affected because it was part of Tribune's station portfolio.
2009
Hartford Courant cross-ownership and newsroom integration dispute
Tribune's ownership of WTIC-TV, WCCT-TV, and the Hartford Courant led to criticism and regulatory challenges over newspaper–television concentration. The planned relocation of the stations into the Courant building and newsroom collaboration were questioned by Connecticut officials and competing newspapers.
