AUSTRAC scrutiny of transaction monitoring and reporting
AUSTRAC identified deficient monitoring and reporting practices in a review of online payment platforms concerning suspicious transactions involving child sexual abuse material. WorldRemit was assessed as having particularly concerning practices among the businesses reviewed and was ordered to appoint an external auditor.

Sendwave consumer-protection and remittance-rule violations
The CFPB found that the Sendwave business operated by a WorldRemit subsidiary violated United States electronic-fund-transfer and remittance-transfer requirements. The findings covered consumer-liability language, representations about transfer speed and cost, exchange-rate and availability disclosures, error investigation procedures and receipt timing. The consent decree required refunds, a civil penalty and changes to business practices.
