Mohammad El Halabi case and suspension of Palestinian funding
After Israeli authorities arrested World Vision's Gaza manager Mohammad El Halabi on allegations of diverting aid, the Australian government suspended funding for WVA's Palestinian programs. Critics questioned WVA funding for a soccer field in Jenin after the area surrounding it was named for a former PLO leader. WVA said the field had a different name and that the later naming decision was made by Palestinian authorities after construction.

UAWC funding allegations
The Israel Law Center alleged that support for the Union of Agricultural Work Committees could be redirected to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, which is designated as a terrorist organization in Australia. WVA suspended dealings while the allegations were examined and later resumed them after World Vision and AusAID concluded that the allegations were unfounded. The Israel Law Center disputed that conclusion.
