    Usenet content-liability case

Sébastien Socchard and FranceNet chief executive Rafi Haladjian were arrested and jailed over access through their servers to sensitive Usenet newsgroups, including material involving child abuse. The case challenged the assumption that an ISP merely providing technical access should be responsible for third-party content. It was dismissed about two years later, followed by changes to French law limiting such liability.
