Tampa affair
The Wilhelmsen-operated MV Tampa rescued 438 asylum seekers after their vessel became distressed. Australia denied the ship permission to land, resulting in a prolonged political, legal, and diplomatic dispute involving Australia, Norway, and Indonesia.
