Leather-spray product-liability prosecution
Werner & Mertz and company managers were prosecuted in Germany over allegations that a leather spray was not withdrawn promptly despite awareness of health risks dating from 1980, and that adequate warning labels were not added in time. An appellate ruling by Germany’s Federal Court of Justice confirmed managerial responsibility and liability.
