Warwick Estate

Warwick Wine Estate is situated in the foothills of Stellenbosch's Simonsberg Mountain. The land has been farmed since 1771, and the name Warwick was proclaimed in 1912. The estate is known for being South Africa's first estate to bottle a Cape Blend, and for creating Trilogy, one of the country's first Bordeaux-style blends, made since 1986. It also established Cabernet Franc's credentials in the Cape through a dedicated planting programme. The estate is committed to sustainability and regenerative farming, and has been awarded Champion status by the World Wildlife Fund.

The land on which Warwick stands has been farmed since 1771, when a plot outside Stellenbosch, named De Goede Sukses, was granted to its first owner. The name Warwick was proclaimed in 1912, when Colonel William Alexander Gordon bought the farm and renamed it Warwick, a tribute to his Warwickshire regiment. Warwick has been a pioneer: South Africa's first estate to bottle a Cape Blend; creator of Trilogy, one of the country's first Bordeaux-style blends, made since 1986; and first to establish Cabernet Franc's credentials in the Cape through a dedicated planting programme. More recently, First Lady's Tea Garden, a low-alcohol blend of Pinotage Rosé infused with rooibos tea, brought a first of its own to the wine cooler category.
