Surgical-mask price-gouging allegation
During the COVID-19 PPE shortage, Wisconsin's Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection sent Grainger a letter alleging that surgical-mask prices had risen from approximately $0.17 to $1.00 per mask. Grainger said the increase reflected supplier-cost increases and broad shortages. The allegation was reported in the context of pandemic procurement pressure and did not establish that the company had committed unlawful price gouging.
