  1. 2005

    Ekjord case

An investigation found that importer Ekjord A/S had provided luxury meals, accommodation, wine and other benefits to Vinmonopolet personnel. The benefits were alleged to have influenced product purchasing and store placement. Nine people were reprimanded, two were dismissed, and CEO Knut Grøholt left the role later that year.

  2. 2001

    Château Latour pricing error

A catalogue error listed Château Latour at a price far below its expected level, apparently because it had been confused with Château Latour à Pomerol. The first three customers ordered the available stock, reportedly intending to resell it at a substantial profit.

  3. 1930

    Dysthe case

The case exposed conflicts between corporate and personal interests in Vinmonopolet's procurement procedures. Leadership convictions and subsequent legal and procedural reforms reduced the influence of individual decision-makers over purchasing.
