VanMoof’s Dutch entities entered bankruptcy after liquidity problems, following years of customer complaints about reliability, repairs, replacement parts and delivery. The collapse disrupted riders, creditors, suppliers and employees before the brand was sold to Lavoie.

Actors used in hidden-camera theft advertisement
VanMoof’s anti-theft promotional video presented staged interactions as if they were spontaneous public events. The company later admitted that actors had participated.
