Urbaser fined over missed waste collections

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council fined contractor Urbaser after it was reported to have missed up to 1,000 waste collections a day. The councils warned that the fine could rise if performance did not improve.

Some people haven't had bin collections for a number of weeks, for others it's been a question of having bin collections on different days.
News of the fines was shared in a public letter from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council's chief executive, Julie Beilby, to Urbaser's managing director, Javier Peiro, yesterday.
