University of Texas sues Staples Street Meat Market over logo and colors

    Lawsuit filed

The University of Texas filed a federal lawsuit alleging that Staples Street Meat Market's longhorn logo and orange color scheme are too similar to the university's trademarks and could lead customers to believe the business is affiliated with it. The university is asking a federal judge to order the market to stop using the logo and remove it from promotional materials, and is seeking damages and other relief. Market owner Michael Meehan denied knowingly infringing the university's logo.

    Company response

    • Denial — Staples Street Meat Market

In no way have we ever knowingly infringed on their logo or anything to do with the University of Texas.
