Class-action lawsuit alleges UnityPoint Health rounded down hourly workers' time

    Lawsuit filed

A potential class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of UnityPoint Health hourly employees alleges the hospital chain violated federal and Illinois wage-and-hour laws by configuring its Kronos/UKG timekeeping system to round down workers' actual clock-in and clock-out times, resulting in unpaid wages. Plaintiffs Jennifer Randolph and Maggie McMahon sued Iowa Health System, doing business as UnityPoint Health, in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa. UnityPoint previously denied the same allegations in an April 2026 Illinois case that was dropped.

    Company response

    • Denial — UnityPoint Health

UnityPoint specifically denied rounding off workers’ actual hours and also denied paying its hourly employees based on rounded time rather than actual hours worked.

    Source excerpt

    • The lawsuit, while focused on Illinois workers and violations of both federal and Illinois state labor laws, was filed this week in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, where UnityPoint Health is based.
    • UnityPoint, the lawsuit alleges, “systematically rounds time off both ends of its hourly employees’ work shift to the advantage of (the company) and to the financial harm and underpayment of its hourly employees.”
