European Union investigation into UIP Pay TV
European Union authorities investigated UIP Pay TV over concerns that the joint distribution structure could function as a cartel-like arrangement in the licensing of films to pay-television broadcasters. After the investigation, the pay-television arm was broken up and the relevant studio rights were transferred to separate television-distribution organizations.
